Discreetly tucked in an alley within the hustle and bustle of Hollywood Road, Neighborhood is the latest offering from chef and restaurateur David Lai. Having learned his trade on the West Coast of the US, Lai returned hometown of Hong Kong to help open Spoon by Alain Ducasse. But at this Asia’s 50 Best regular, European cuisine – specifically French and Italian – is the focus of the weekly changing menu, but not without an elevated twist: wild boar is added to garganelli pasta, pigeon eggs are prepared escargot-style, and monkfish and lobster are the mains in the bouillabaisse.
